Verizon Wireless to Launch New Swivel Nokia?

A new Nokia phone is heading to Verizon Wireless but details about it are very limited right now. According to secret sources the new handset has a swivel mechanism and resembles the E71, which is one of the best phones Nokia launched last year. Will the swivel version be just as good or way better?

Verizon is supposed to launch it this summer, sometime in July or August so we’re waiting for all the hot specs by then. What we do know is that this QWERTY Nokia phone will be running Symbian S40 and not S60. What do you think?

Verizon Wireless to Launch HTC Touch Diamond on April 10

The HTC Touch Diamond2 is on its way but in the mean time Verizon Wireless seems ready to officially launch its own original Touch Diamond. The phone will be available for B2B, web and telesales customers starting with April 10 while everyone else will get later on. The phone will sell for $199.99 with a 2-year agreement after mail-in rebates. The phone is also available for $469.99 just in case you don’t want to be tied to Verizon for two more years.

Just in case you forgot what an HTC Touch Diamond features, here’s a quick list of specs:

CPU: Qualcomm 7500A
Speed: 528 MHz
RAM size: 128MB

Verizon LG enV3 spotted

Looking for a worthy upgrade to your ageing enV2? You may not have to wait long as we have news that the next iteration in the enV series is already on its way, worthy or not. According to VZW E, a member of HowardForums, who posted the pictures, the vx9200 or the enV3 sees a bump from 2 megapixels from its predecessor to 3 megapixel and a few structural changes including a curved external dialpad and the omission of one space bar button on the QWERTY keypad found inside. The display has added on a few more pixels from the looks of it, while the flanking stereo speakers remain where they were on the enV2. Not much of an upgrade if you ask me, but without the complete spec list, we might be wrong after all. Read on for one more fuzzy shot of the enV3’s exterior…

Verizon to Launch MiFi 2200 EVDO Hotspot

The gadget above is the new Novatel MiFi 2200 personal hotspot which should be released by Verizon Wireless soon. The device isn’t bigger than a credit card and it will offer you about four hours of EVDO connectivity on each charge. You will be able to connect your laptops and cell phones to it and surf the Internet while on the go. Is there a data cap? How much will Verizon charge per month for the service? We don’t have all the hot details so far but the MiFi router should sell for $200 when Verizon decides to release it.

Verizon Wireless Confirms Plan to Sell Netbooks

Verizon Wireless is going to start selling netbooks soon. And to be more precise, Verizon will sell 3G-enabled netbooks by the end of the second quarter. For now we have no idea what netbooks are going to arrive from Verizon but we should assume that plenty of netbook makers out there will be interested in selling their netbooks under Verizon’s name. AT&T is already selling $99 Acer netbooks so we should assume similar prices to arrive from Verizon.

Samsung Smooth to Arrive from Verizon Wireless in April

The Samsung U-350 or the Smooth is a flip phone scheduled to arrive on April 1 from Verizon Wireless. It’s an entry-level phone, successor of the U-340 which will bring you a 128 x 160 65k TFT display, 1xRTT support, a VGA camera, Bluetooth, GPS and various Verizon services like Chaperone, VZ Navigator, Mobile Email and Mobile web. The phone will cost $30 for a 2-year contract with a $50 mail-in rebate. Not an impressive handset, but certainly one that’s worth your attention if you’re looking to buy entry-level phones only.

ITT Sues Verizon and More Over GPS Patent

We have one more trial craving our attention. ITT Corp has decided to sue Verizon alongside a handful of cellphone manufacturers like Motorola, Nokia, LG and Kyocera over GPS patent infringement. The companies have allegedly violated one of ITT’s patents which relates to position information transmitted in urban areas with line-of-sight obstructions. A jury trial is being asked for and subsequently ITT will ask for lots of money.

Verizon Wireless App to Assist Visually Impaired

Verizon Wireless announced a new service available for the blind and visually impaired customers. The application is Talk and it will help you convert text into speech so you can take advantage of a variety of features like phone numbers, caller ID, SMS messages, emails and notes. Using voice only, Talk users will be able to do the following:

Dial a number from the phone’s Contacts directory
Add and edit entries in the Contacts directory
Write text messages and e-mail
Write documents using Mobile Office
Access and compose multimedia message service (MMS) messages
Use Mobile Internet Explorer to access the Internet
Control speech volume and rate of speech

Talk will be available at first on Motorola Q9c handsets. The phone will be available starting tomorrow, March 15, for $249 with a contract.

Nokia and Verizon to Launch a 4G Phone?

Is Nokia getting ready to launch a new flagship phone? We’re still waiting for the N97 which is not a 4G phone as far as we know. Because that’s exactly what Nokia is thinking about, 4G phones. It mentioned how LTE is going to be its main focus for future phones so the next 4G phone could rely on that technology. Especially since reports place Nokia and Verizon together working on a new exclusive touchscreen handset. And since Verizon has been working on LTE development lately, I think it’s safe to say Nokia and Verizon’s future phone is going to be a 4G LTE phone. Will a future Nokia-Verizon alliance be able to fight the hordes of AT&T-Apple?

Unfortunately we don’t have any specs or pictures of this 4G Nokia phone so any tips, leaks and even photoshopped images are more than welcome.

Verizon Wireless Announces the LG Versa Smartphone

Verizon Wireless and LG Electronics MobileComm U.S.A., Inc. announced today that the LG Versa will be available Verizon’s network beginning March 1. With its elegant chrome border on a bar design, animated 3-inch touch screen interface with tactile feedback and an attachable QWERTY keypad, the LG Versa will be an MVP (Most Versatile Phone) for customers.

Customers can personalize their LG Versa phones based on their messaging needs – either attach the QWERTY keypad to their phones or leave the keypad at home. The LG Versa’s home screen is transformed into a sizzling, animated 3D interface and customers can quickly customize three different home screens with their favorite shortcuts.

The built-in accelerometer rotates the screen automatically from portrait to landscape, and customers can use rotation movements to steer games.

The HTML Web browser includes Flash and RSS feed support, and customers can keep up to three windows open and switch from one window to the other to view pages.

Additionally, the phone comes packed with Verizon Wireless’ V CAST Music with Rhapsody and V CAST Video services. V CAST Music with Rhapsody allows customers to choose from more than 5 million songs over-the-air, download the master copy of their songs to their PCs free of digital rights management (DRM) software and sync their favorite tracks, albums and playlists from their PCs to their LG Versa phones using the included USB cable. V CAST Video allows customers to download or stream video from the best names in news, sports, entertainment and more.

The LG Versa supports productivity tools – such as Visual Voice Mail so they can prioritize their messages – while Verizon Wireless’ VZ Navigator(SM) service transforms the phone into a navigation device at a fraction of the cost of most GPS systems. In addition, the LG Versa is compatible with Mobile Broadband Connect to allow customers to use their phones as a modem by linking their laptops to their phones to establish a broadband connection anywhere within Verizon Wireless’ Mobile Broadband rate and coverage area.
