LG GB130 Phone Launched

Meet the new LG GB130, a basic slider destined for the Russian market. It features a 2″ 160 x 120 resolution display, an integrated FM radio with a dedicated button, and up 6.5 hours of talk time. It is now available for 2,990 rubles (approx. $91).

LG have officially launched their GB130 phone over in Russia. The phone is stylish, compact and available at an affordable price, perfect for those of you looking for a simple phone at a good price for your pocket.

Due to the lack of interesting features though, we can’t say that this phone will appeal to most of you. Then again, we could be wrong. Its available to buy now.

Sprint Launched LG LX290, Inferno BlackBerry Curve 8330

The mobile phone market is doing well despite the poor economy, particularly in the smartphone segment. There is also a market for devices that aren’t smartphones but offer lots of features and are centered on messaging.

Specifications for the LG LX290 have been provided to us by Sprint and the device looks to be a solid phone for those looking to keep in touch. The handset will be available on the Sprint network and features a sliding design, access to email, and text messages.

Other features include a 2.5mm headphone jack, which means your headphones probably won’t fit. The device is GPS-enabled and supports email form AOL, Yahoo, and Windows Live. The device can record and send voice messages. The handset measure 4.09-inches x 1.94-inches x 0.63-inches and weighs 3.6 ounces. The screen is a 1.33 x 1.77-inch TFT with a resolution of 240 x 320. Pricing and availability are not known.

Sprint has also released a new color version of the

BlackBerry Curve 8330: Inferno (which is actually some sort of orange).

The Inferno
BlackBerry Curve 8330 costs $49.99 with a 2-yr contract agreement and after a $100 mail-in rebate. Like the LG LX290, the new Curve can be bought both online and from Sprint’s retail locations.

Of course, you can always buy the brand new BlackBerry Tour instead.

LG LX290 Phone Avaible at Sprint

LG LX290

Sprint announced the LG LX290 slider phone. The LX290 has dedicated application shortcut keys as well as a 1.3 megapixel camera, Bluetooth and GPS. It is available online starting today for $30 after rebates with new agreement.

“Compact and sleek productivity” might be a bit over the top, but the bottom line is this: at $29.99 on contract after rebates, LG’s new LX290 for Sprint is one of the cheapest ways to get Sprint Navigation and email access in your pocket. The slider packs a 1.3 megapixel camera for basic shooting needs, instant messaging capability, AGPS (naturally), a 320 x 240 display, and a 2.5mm audio jack — we would’ve preferred 3.5, of course, but at that bargain-basement price, we’ll take what we can get. The phone is available now, so go on, get productive.

Rumor: LG GT500 touchscreen phone for Rogers?

This might be just something else tossed at us from the rumor mill, but if we tell you that this little morsel of info was spotted coded onto LG’s own website, would that add some credibility to it? Well, may be it would. The folks over at MobileSyrup did some diving on LG’s site and came across an xml document that is named “LG-GT500R-Rogers.xml,” which could be a dead giveaway that the GT500R (R for Rogers?), which is scheduled for a T-Mobile opening this summer, will be hopping the Canadian boundary and end up with Rogers some time soon. The specs may be a little bland for some, with its 5-megapixel camera, 3G support, GPS, and a 3-inch touchscreen display to name a few, but then, they aren’t such a big disappointment either.

Anybody care to wager who will get it first? Rogers or T-Mobile? Americans or Canadians?

LG Cookie KX500 CDMA cellphone

They sure meant business when they said they wanted to sell 10 million of these babies and a CDMA version is a pretty good idea to reach that tantalizing milestone. But before you Verizon and Sprint subscribers get your hopes up, the new LG Cookie KX500 CDMA will only be available in the Asian market for now, although we can’t entirely rule out the possibility that it will pop up in the United States in the future. LG has carried over all the features that the KP500 is liked for, including the lovely 3-inch touchscreen display, Bluetooth 2.0 +EDR, widget-based UI, and an accelerometer with support for CDMA 1x networks instead of GSM.

The LG Cookie KX500 is expected to go on sale starting at the end of May for approx. $276 in the Asia Pacific regions.

LG GD900 Crystal Goes to the UK in May

The GD900 is a phone you couldn’t have possibly missed. It’s a slider with a transparent keypad with multitouch support which we’ve seen around the Internet for a while now. LG hasn’t officially announced the phone for any market but it looks like Carphone Warehouse will bring the phone in the UK sometime in May. Or that’s what their website says so far. There aren’t any specific details so far but we will be watching this one for you. How much would you be willing to pay for it?

Sprint colors LG Lotus red, drops price

If color was the only factor deterring you from getting your beau an LG Lotus, Sprint has added another option that looks interesting. The QWERTY-toting clamshell was previously available in purple, which isn’t exactly popular among the masses, and black with a matte finish when it released last year. Besides from the new red exterior, the LG LX600 is the same old chubby self with its 2mpx camera, Bluetooth, and the QWERTY keypad for the more furious texters.

Available now on Sprint for just $49.99 (compared to $99.99 that the originals demanded) with a suitable contract.

LG Viewty Smart GC900 coming in May

Last week, the GC900, which we have now come to call as the LG Viewty Smart, made an appearance on the LG blog, which was later taken down. This time around, we bring you news straight from the horse’s mouth and have one more detail to add: a release date. According to the press release by LG recently, the 8mpx Viewty Smart cameraphone will start appearing through “operators in Europe” this May, but the article did not mention a price, so may be it’s up to the operators now to come out with their subsidized prices. LG Neon TE365F QWERTY Phone

LG Electronics offers a low cost phone that possesses the high quality features like QWERTY and touch screen features, then the LG Neon may be worth checking out. Also available through Rogers Wireless, the LG Neon is not supposed to compete against a BlackBerry or an iPhone. Instead, it’s a slightly beefier multimedia phone that happens to rock a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Texters will find that quite useful.

The most notable feature on the LG Neon TE365F is its slide-out QWERTY keyboard. This three-row keyboard will certainly come in handy for pumping out those text messages, instant messages, and emails. When you slide out the keyboard, the display automatically orients to landscape mode as well. The display also happens to be a touchscreen, but it comes with a few limitations that I’ll describe a little later in this review.

Other notable features on this multimedia and messaging-minded handset include tri-band (850/1800/1900) GSM/EDGE connectivity, Bluetooth, integrated MP3 player, FM radio, 2 megapixel camera (no flash), picture and video messaging, and an SMS conversation box. It’s nice to see a couple of notable basics like the MP3 player and digital camera, but there isn’t much here that’s going to floor you. At the same time, you have to realize that this phone only costs fifty bucks with contract. That’s pretty cheap.

Inside the box are the phone itself, a SIM card, charger, and supporting documentation. Even though there’s an MP3 player inside and the phone uses a proprietary connection, there is no provided headset.

The LG Neon TE365F QWERTY messaging phone is available through Fido for $50 with a qualifying two-year service agreement or for $175 outright.

LG GC900 goes official, now called LG Smart

And Smart it is, with its ultra-sleek looks and power-packed features. LG has now fessed up and announced the GC900, which we knew better as the Viewty II, and will be called the LG Smart hereon. We pretty much knew all its ins and outs but in case you missed some, here are its major features all crammed into a thickness of 12.4 mm:

HSDPA network support
WiFi
3-inch TFT touchscreen display
8-megapixel camera with video capture at 720×480 resolution
aGPS with Geotagging
S-Class 3D UI
Weight: 90g

Pricing and availability aren’t revealed yet, but the Orange logo on one of the images confirms that it will be the carrier playing home to LG Smart in the UK.

LG Xenon launched by AT&T, finally

It’s been a long wait but whether it was worth it or not is for the interested AT&T subscribers to decide as they now have a new non-smartphone touchscreen cell phone to choose, the LG Xenon, which has now joined AT&T’s ranks now as promised. The Xenon, as we already know, should be an ideal match for anybody who’s into big-time texting (like that poor girl who just couldn’t stop) and email as it comes with a slide-out QWERTY keypad for easy thumb typing. There’s support for quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and UMTS/HSDPA (850MHz/2100MHz) networks along with WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0, and USB 2.0 adding up to nice set of connectivity options. Other features include a 2-megapixel camera, a 2.8-inch LCD display, and support for microSD up to 16GB (100MB onboard).

Look up AT&T to get the LG Xenon for $99 after a $50 rebate on a two-year contract.

Rumor: LG Viewty II for Orange UK in June

We still have no concrete information about the next incarnation of the LG Viewty, but we have been hearing whispers and also seen a few shots of what is purported to be the upcoming device with the model name of GC900 aka the Viewty II. The latest rumor from Omio takes it a step ahead and gives us a release date, which of course may turn out to be entirely fabricated, along with an insight into what we can expect from the GC900. They were able to unearth a release schedule for Q2 2009 for Orange UK and guess what they found! The Viewty II of course along with some new mysterious entrants called the Samsung Preston and LG GW520, of which we have no clues at all. The GC900 is supposed to boast an 8-megapixel lens with Xenon flash, a 3-inch WVGA touchscreen, 32GB of inbuilt memory, DivX/Xvid compatibility, and the S-Class 3D UI that the Arena runs.

Sounds pretty nice, but let’s wait for the official announcement before we jump wagons, shall we?

LG Sells Over 2 Million Cookies

Looks like touch is the way to go, seeing how even non-smartphone touchscreen handsets are kicking up a storm these days. It is now LG’s time to toot its horn again, this time with the LG KP500, more widely known as the Cookie, which has surpassed the 2-million-unit mark in just five short months since its release and still going strong. Dr. Scott Ahn, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications, had this to say on reaching the milestone:

We wanted to allow more people to benefit from the advanced touch technology that we introduced in previous touchscreen handsets. Because of our extensive background in touchscreen handsets, we are now able to bring this innovative technology to consumers at an affordable price without compromising quality with the LG Cookie.

More peer pressure on the LG Arena to perform better, even if it was preordered a million times before its release, don’t you think?

LG launches GM310, GM210, and GM205 music phones

Branded as music phones, the three new handsets from LG are squarely targeted at emerging markets and could be categorized as low to mid-end devices. Of the three, the GM310 (second in the picture) seems to stand out with its slightly better specs compared to GM210 (left) and GM205 (right). The GM310 slider offers what every true music phone should offer, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, and has dedicated music keys with support for microSD cards going up to 32GB to go with the 512MB or 1GB onboard. It supports tri-band GSM and dual-band HSDPA networks and has a fairly sized 2.2-inch QVGA display. A 3.15-megapixel camera should be enough for anybody’s immediate imaging needs and there’s Bluetooth 2.1 for sending them around.

The GM210, also a slider, seems destined to stay in the low-range segment with a 2-megapixel camera, music keys, a microSD slot that can handle cards of up to 4GB, and USB 2.0 connectivity. The GM205 also boasts of a similar 2-megapixel camera, dedicated music buttons, 2.1 channel speakers, and 2GB microSD support.

All the three handsets sport Dolby Mobile and LG Sound Engine and will be released in emerging markets of Asia and Latin America, after which they will be rolled out gradually in a total of 30 countries. No price details have been announced yet.

LG UK blogger event, LG Arena out by this weekend

It was a great opportunity for us to be able to take part in the launch of the LG Arena KM900 blogger event last night in London. We know from some of your messages that there’s been quite alot of interest in the phone since it was first announced during the Mobile World Congress (MWC), we’re happy to tell you all that the Arena will officially be available by the end of this weekend.

We were told at the event by LG Sales and Marketing Director, John Barton that the Arena will be arriving the UK mobile networks, Orange and T-Mobile, not surprisingly Phones4u and the Carphone Warhouse will also be involved in retailing.

“Vodafone is likely to stock the handset,” added John during the presentation.

Most of you will have seen the Arena in silver metallic casing and this has been confirmed to be the Orange unit. However, we have learnt that the T-Mobile version will sport a titanium black exterior.

Tariff deals for the Arena currently available for pre-order (via the Carphone) are priced at £35 per month on a contract length of 18 months.

We’ll keep everyone updated with photos and reviews of the LG Arena as we take a closer look at the demo unit we received last night.

LG Voyager 2 handset images leaked

Hot on the heels of a leaked image of the LG Env 3 handset on Thursday, the successor to the Voyager was revealed on Friday as well. Little is known about the handset, other than that it sports a large touchscreen interface and opens up to reveal a QWERTY keyboard. Verizon’s logo is already visible on the blurry photos, though it is not known exactly when the handset will be released. The majority of the features of the original Voyager are expected to be retained in the new handset, including Bluetooth support, a camera with at least a 2-megapixel sensor and multimedia playback capability with a microSD card slot for storage. The phone was spotted earlier this year, revealing it could include a detachable QWERTY keyboard that would allow it to operate as a smaller, touchscreen-only device.

LG Xenon spotted at CTIA

Christmas has come and gone already and we now have a new release date of April 9 for the Xenon to appear on AT&T, but that shouldn’t stop LG from showing the GR500 off at the CTIA 2009 and us from bringing you another peek at this QWERTY-packing slider, right? So, here we are with a fresh batch of pictures courtesy of AVing. The specs have been gone over many times already but for those emerging from under a rock, the LG Xenon is a Quad-band EDGE/UMTS/HSDPA device that has a 2-megapixel camera, a microSD slot, Bluetooth and USB 2.0, WiFi, and a widget-based UI to go with its haptic touchscreen display. LG Details Specs of GD900, Adds Multi-touch

First spotted in mid-February at Mobile World Congress, LG’s GD900 handset has received more specifications from its maker. The full touchscreen phone is expected to appear at this week’s CTIA Wireless show in Las Vegas and will feature haptic feedback for its 3-inch touchscreen and signature and unique transparent touchpad. LG also claims the touchpad will support finger-writing recognition rather than needing a stylus. A surprise addition is multi-touch support, which lets users zoom in and out of web pages; a gesture shortcut will help users access shortcuts with a movement of their fingers. For example, users can trace the shape of an M with their finger on the touchpad to bring up the music player. Swirling a finger will rewind or fast forward media.

The official launch of the handset is slated for sometime in May, although no other information, including pricing, is yet known. It’s also unclear whether LG has been able to skirt patents owned by Apple for multi-touch on handhelds.

Sprint Brings LG Lotus Back: Now in Red

Look whose back! It’s LG Lotus, now in red. Sprint just released the spec sheet of the Lotus Clamshell. The new model features a stylized cover which adds to its beauty. This is the third color of the model, after the purple and the matte black versions. The specs are similar to the previous releases however the cover is an addition. As per rumors Sprint will bring the phone to the general public by mid-April with price tags similar to the current versions. The phone will serve the seekers of new style, others might consider sticking to the earlier versions.

Cheap, touchscreen touting LG Neon revealed

Cellphones marketed towards teens continue to flow out of AT&T and next up is the LG Neon.

Featuring a touchscreen, slide out QWERTY keyboard, and 2.0MP camera the Neon is sure to make any techsavvy teenager happy. The press release also states that you’ll be able to “access Instant Messaging, Mobile Email, AT&T Music, and the mobile Internet.”

Just like the Magnet, details are scarce on the LG Neon but AT&T assures us that more details will be released in the coming weeks. Remember to check back, we’ll keep you posted.

LG GM630 Flip Phone Has a TV Tuner Too

AT&T to Launch LG Xenon on April 9

AT&T will finally launch that LG Xenon which we were waiting to arrive before Christmas. Pictures of the device have started to appear here and there around the Internet and the release is imminent. We’re looking at an April 9 launch according to AT&T.

The phone will come with a new OS, said to be similar to Smasung’s TouchWiz UI. Besides that, here’s what else you should expect from it:

LG GM200 Candybar Mobile Phone

LG Electronics has added a new member to its GM series with the unveiling of the LG GM200 Candybar Mobile Phone. The new device is the third to be included in the lineup lately, following the LG GM730, which came featuring Microsoft’s Windows Mobile operating system, and the GM310, which brought a sliding form factor.

The newly unveiled LG GM200 comes as a simple candybar mobile phone that packs Dolby Mobile technology, along with stereo speakers. The handsets also sports a nice range of multimedia features, such as music and video players, as well as a built-in FM antenna. In addition, it seems that the phone maker also added a background noise sensor, which is meant to automatically adjust the volume when it is necessary.

The LG GM200 candybar also features

GSM/GPRS connectivity
Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP
30MB of internal memory coupled with a microSD memory card slot to offer additional storage space for those who need it.

The handset measures 106 x 48 x 14.7 mm and looks pretty nice, the same as most of LG’s candybar mobile phones.

LG to Make More Phones than Notebooks

LG has decided to concentrate its efforts on touchscreen and QWERTY mobile phones instead of laptops this year. The South Korean manufacturer seems more interested in the handset business considering the low demand for laptops. Would you rather buy a touch-friendly smartphone instead of a new laptop from LG? Or would you simply choose other laptops instead of those made by LG? LG is the third largest cell-phone supplier so this move is rather logical. By the end of the year LG is said to introduce more phones in order to complete its previous declared goal.
