Daft Punk Bluetooth Headset

The Daft Punk Bluetooth headset from Nokia is not your ordinary headset in many ways. First of all, it was not a product of just any design team making the usual headsets for the popular mobile phone company. It is actually a winner of a design contest that Nokia has just recently concluded.

The aim of the said contest was for competitors to design a unique headset inspired by listening to a piece of music. Ten designs garnering the most popular votes online were chosen and then were made to undergo scrutiny from a panel of music and design experts. Five of the designs were ultimately chosen and the Daft Punk Bluetooth headset was one of them.

This headset is actually called Robot Rock, after a Daft Punk track that inspired the design. It truly looks like a sleek and futuristic headset, the kind that robots would wear. The simple design lines provide an interesting yet quite unique view of what headsets may look like in the future. Winner design headsets such as the Robot Rock have the opportunity to be made into fully functional headsets by Nokia and then showcased on its various flagship stores around the world. It is not certain if they will someday become part of the Nokia product catalog.

Sound ID 300 Bluetooth Headset Now Available

BlueAnt ships Q1 Bluetooth headset

BlueAnt Wireless has announced its newest Bluetooth headset, the voice controlled BlueAnt Q1. Previously introduced at CES in January, the device offers dual microphones for noise reduction, and contains multipoint support to connect two mobile phones at the same time. Containing some features found in the company’s V1 headset, users can control the Q1 with their voice using the BlueGenie Natural Voice Interface. This enables them to make commands such as volume adjustment simply by saying “volume up” or “volume down.”

The headset has the ability to pair with up-to eight devices, and offers roughly 4-hours of talk time or a maximum of 100-hours in standby. With the dual microphones and voice isolation technology, the device helps ensure the persons voice is heard in noisy environments, and can handle winds up to 10mph. The firmware of the headset can also be upgraded via USB cable on the users PC, and supports Bluetooth 2.1 or later, which allows users to listen to music from compatible devices.Additional voice controls allow users to ask what the battery level is, to answer or reject phone calls, to open the settings menu, and to dial contacts. The BlueAnt Q1 is currently being shipped and is priced at $130.

Jabra intros dual-microphone HALO Bluetooth headset

Electronics maker Jabra, presenting at the CTIA Wireless show, has unveiled the HALO Bluetooth headset, which provides A2DP stereo support. The minimalist headset also has a 3.5mm audio jack for use with devices without Bluetooth transmitters, and noise cancelation managed through a combination of dual microphones and Jabra’s Noise Blackout technology. Wearers can pair the HALO with up to two Bluetooth devices, and talk or listen to music for up to six hours at a time before having to recharge a built-in battery. The HALO sports touch-sensitive controls, and weighs approximately 3oz. Shipment is due in May at a cost of $130.

A Game of Mind Control From Mindflex

The game consists of a sponge ball that you levitate by concentrating (and pulling a seated straining face). The ball floats by means of a fan and you can control the height by the power of your strain. Twisting a dial moves the ball around the customizable circular course, then use your mind to move it up and down to navigate through the various obstacles.

Mindflex is due to market the Fall of 2009 and will retail for ~$80.

Gadget Inspector review the latest Eyewear from Vusix. Vuzix keep on to amplify their personal video wear lineup with the new Wrap 920AV. They’re semi-transparent they act like conventional sunglasses so you are able to wear them as you stumble walk around in the real world.

Vuzix are selling them as “Augmented reality” devices (they’re at least 5 years too soon for that to really work) but since they’re actually pretty comfortable to wear and have a very good picture I can see them being bought as straightforward personal video screens.

The new model that’s not on the website yet is the VR1440. An upgrade to the already popular VR920, it’s display is 800×600 native resolution and will take a PC resolution of up to 1600×1200. Combining 3D display and headtracking it would make a compelling accessory for flight simulator fans.
